At Malama Pono Autism Center we are looking for people committed to making a difference in the lives of children. Some join our team with many years of clinical experience and expertise, others come to us with little professional direction but know they want to be part of something special.
The following positions are great ways to join Malama Pono and begin a new professional direction.
Registered Behavior Technician (RBT)
RBT’s are the professionals who spend the most time directly working with children. As an RBT you will work one on one with a child with developmental challenges. You will be responsible to help teach and support them as they learn the many developmental milestones children need to be happy and healthy kids.
No experience with autism is required. The Registered Behavior Technician is a national certification (BACB) which once you receive allows you to work directly with children on the autism spectrum utilizing ABA (Applied Behavior Analysis). The good news? If you don't already have this credential we will pay to train and prepare you to earn this achievement.
This position is high energy and will have you working directly with children of all ages. You will be given specific goals that the child is working on and teach them the necessary skills to be a healthy and high functioning child. Part-time and full-time positions are available but you will need to have a flexible schedule as some of our busiest times are afternoons and evenings.
Requirements for RBT:
- At least 48 college credits
- Can pass background check
- Interest in consistent schedule and hours
Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA)
Malama Pono Autism Center provides a variety of clinical programs offering BCBAs of all levels of experience opportunities to learn and develop their skills. This includes a strong focus on applying behavior analysis across diverse and new populations, working collaboratively with other disciplines, and developing the interpersonal skills to offer dynamic supervision, training and leadership to others.
A foundational principle through all MPAC’s programs is the importance of community. The behavioral health field is intense, stressful, and has a high burnout rate. The secret to building a long and fulfilling career is working in healthy professional environments that are nurturing and supportive. It is often only in the safety of a strong community that we can grow, be challenged, and avoid feeling depleted.
BCBA’s and BCaBA’s at MPAC perform a wide variety of roles and functions depending on their experience and areas of focus. This work is performed under the supervision of seasoned leadership who are well trained in behavior analysis as well as effective supervision and leadership methodologies. Newly practicing behavior analysts are paired with experienced mentors to peer-support. More experienced analysts will lead a team of behavior technicians, residents in training, and BCaBAs.
Speech and Language Pathologist (SLP)
Speech and Language Pathologist’s (SLP’s) are an important part of the treatment team at Malama Pono Autism Center. All children diagnosed with an autism spectrum disorder have communication deficits. SLP’s play a vital role in addressing the language and communication needs of children with autism.
Many families are accustomed to seeking out ABA, Speech, OT, PT and other complimentary services from different providers in separate clinics. Malama Pono Autism Center has a full team of SLP’s who work interactively with BCBA’s and the clinical treatment team to provide thorough and complimentary assessments that lead to strong individualize treatment plans.
SLP’s interested in joining the team should be:
- Prepared to conduct assessments, reports, develop treatment plans, and deliver services for children of all ages
- Well versed in Applied Behavior Analysis and behavioral theories
- Comfortable working in an interactive and collaborative environment
- Open to training and supporting behavioral technicians
- Interested in providing education, training, and support to parents and caregivers
